Innovation in Education

  • By thinking differently
  • To achieve more
  • Because we all deserve better

Curriculum Matters is on a mission to unite those of us who know that the current way education works needs to change. We take a different approach to curriculum leadership with a real focus on developing curriculum expertise.

The development of future curriculum leaders cannot be left to chance. The role is demanding of curriculum expertise at the outset. Teachers and students rely on curriculum leaders to lead and lead well: where are the skills to do this developed in a way that doesn’t add to work load but actually reduces it through efficient and effective practice?

The aim of Curriculum Matters is to fill that gap by doing things differently, both in what we offer and how we offer it. Through a combination of consultancy, training, coaching and mentoring, our work benefits the individual leader(s) and the school at large. The impact is sustainable as practice is forever changed, the leaders that we support will go on to support the development of future leaders.

“Curriculum development must rest on teacher development”

Lawrence Stenhouse

The curriculum is the daily lived experience of us all. If we are to develop it for the sake of our students we must develop ourselves as teachers. Our curriculum leaders develop the curriculum by developing teachers. To do this they need to know all that the curriculum is and all that it can be. The curriculum matters, the development of the curriculum relying on leaders with curriculum expertise. You can approach Curriculum Matters as a multi-academy trust or local authority, academy or school, subject or even as an individual teacher: our services are open to all and we look forward to hearing from you.
